Mr. Snelling’s Integrated Science classes planted lettuce to learn about growing practices and greenhouses.
Integrated science classes were each given two different varieties of lettuce to plant and grow. Through the growing of lettuce, students are learning how photosynthesis, the water cycle and a host of other processes work to deliver the food we eat each day. Student water and take care of the plants and then around Christmas they will be able to harvest and eat their product. Students have already learned how important light, water, and soil conditions aid, or prevent, their plants from growing well.
“It is great to see the students come in each day and check their plants to see if they are growing. The excitement that they will be able to harvest their own crop gives them encouragement to use base growing practices.”
